The United States ordered the deployment of two destroyers to the Eastern Mediterranean on Friday,
positioning them closer to Israel following Israel’s airstrike on strategic targets in Iran.
The ships, equipped with ballistic and cruise missiles, strengthen the US’s military support for its ally during a time of heightened regional tension.
This was reported by EFE.

According to Pentagon sources cited by Politico, the destroyers that were moved by the US were already in the region.
But they are now being repositioned closer to the conflict zone.
The move represents a clear signal of both operational and symbolic support for Israel.
As well as a deterrent against possible Iranian retaliation.

This morning’s Israeli attack struck over a hundred targets in Iran, including:
- Senior military commanders
- Nuclear scientists
- Uranium enrichment plants
Tehran has vowed a “powerful response,” as nuclear negotiations with Washington remain stalled.

President Donald Trump stated that his administration was aware of the Israeli attack and fully supported it:
“Of course we support Israel. It was a very successful attack,” he told CNN.
He also explained that he had given Iran a 60-day ultimatum to reach a nuclear deal, and the attack coincided with the expiration of that deadline.
On Truth Social, he wrote: “Today is Day 61! I told them what to do, but they couldn’t. Now maybe they’ll get a second chance!”
Military Precedent
This is not the first US deployment in support of Israel.
In October, the US also moved naval units following Iranian attacks, and earlier this year intervened in the Red Sea against the Houthis in Yemen.
Now, the sixth round of negotiations with Iran, scheduled for Sunday in Oman, hangs by a thread.
