If you have dogs at home and you feed them Freshpet, be careful because it could be life-threatening for your pet. The popular pet food brand ordered a voluntary recall of products from a specific lot because the food could be tainted, according to BGR.

The company indicated that the affected lot corresponds to ‘Freshpet Select Fresh From the Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe’. After a routine analysis, the health authorities detected that dog food may contain dangerous bacteria such as salmonella, that can make your dog seriously ill.

Freshpet food recall ordered

Freshpet recently announced a recall of one of its pet food products. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published the recall in a press release on Monday, June 20. They noted that only one batch of product is included in the recall.

The affected product is identified as ‘Freshpet Select Fresh From the Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe’ (4.5 lb bag) – UPC: 627975011673; Lot Code L 10/29/22; Expiration date: 10/29/22 L3. The recalled pet food was shipped to dozens of states in the US

Although the company indicated that the lot would be destroyed in its entirety, Freshpet had already distributed a portion of the affected lot to different retailers throughout the country, including several Walmart stores in Alabama and Georgia, according to BGR.
