The unrest began after reports surfaced that ICE was detaining migrants in the basement of a federal building in Los Angeles, triggering mass protests.

Although ICE refuted these allegations, Trump justified his military deployment by claiming that agents were facing violence.

“If we hadn’t responded with force, that city would be in flames,” said the president from the Oval Office. He also stated that if more protests occur, he will respond “with equal or greater force.”

The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, condemned the deployment, which was carried out without his consent, and accused Trump of violating state sovereignty and abusing the Insurrection Act.

“He has inflamed an already combustible situation,” he stated. “He’s arresting ordinary workers, not dangerous criminals.”

California has formally sued the federal government, arguing that the use of Title 10 to federalize the National Guard exceeds constitutional limits.

Washington state anticipated a possible intervention. Governor Bob Ferguson signed a law prohibiting the entry of troops from other states without permission.

“Trump is seeking violence for political gain,” Ferguson denounced.

Protests are expected in all 50 states on June 14, the president’s birthday.

While there are no immediate plans to deploy more troops, tensions are rising in cities like New York, Atlanta, and Dallas.
