In an interview with columnist Miranda Devine, published on Wednesday, Trump said:

“I suppose I could [talk with Musk], but my only role right now is to bring this country back to a higher level than it’s ever been.”

He also stated that he hasn’t thought much about Musk lately and downplayed the conflict: “I don’t know what his problem is, honestly.”

However, he also suggested that the owner of Tesla and SpaceX “feels very bad” about the fight, which broke out after Musk publicly rejected Trump’s fiscal plan, which could add over $2 trillion to the national deficit.

On his social network X, Musk acknowledged Wednesday that “some” of his criticisms went too far and deleted several posts that had him clashing with Trump.

He called the fiscal package passed by the House “repugnant,” and said it undermines his efforts at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), from which he resigned in May.

Amid this dispute, it was revealed that the red Tesla Trump had bought as a show of support for Musk is no longer at the White House. The administration has not clarified whether it was sold or given away.
