How was Madison Bergmann caught?

According to legal documents, police responded to a report of «inappropriate conduct between a teacher and a fifth-grade student» at River Crest Elementary School in Hudson.
The investigation uncovered text messages between the student and Bergmann.
These discussions allegedly involved meetings that took place in the classroom during lunchtime or after school hours.
The messages were discovered when the student’s mother confiscated his phone after catching him communicating with Bergmann earlier in the week.
A shocking discovery

The student reportedly told investigators that he was in contact with Bergmann «almost daily.»
He also stated that he obtained her number during a winter holiday ski trip his mother and Bergmann.
Madison Bergmann told police she had the student’s number in case they got separated at the park.
A search of Bergmann’s backpack revealed a folder labeled with the student’s name and numerous handwritten notes.
She exchanged notes with the 11-year-old student

The student confirmed to authorities that he and Bergmann exchanged notes throughout the day.
Many of these referenced kisses, according to court documents.
One of the notes read: «One of my cousins is in the 5th grade and I can’t imagine a man talking to her how we talk,» according to CBS.
«I know we have a special relationship and I do love you more than anyone in the world but I have to be the adult here and stop,» the note continued.
Bergmann is out on bail

Principal Kimberly Osterhues issued a statement to parents expressing: «We are shocked and disturbed by this news. Our greatest concern is for the River Crest School community and the children impacted.»
Madison Bergmann was released on $25,000 bail.
She has been prohibited from entering school property or attending school-related events.
