- Immigration debate in the U.S.
The U.S. government issued a stark warning this Wednesday: Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will be present at the Super Bowl halftime show featuring Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny.
The measure was confirmed by Corey Lewandowski, advisor to the Department of Homeland Security, who declared on The Benny Show radio program that there will be no sanctuary for undocumented immigrants in the country, regardless of the place or event.
“There is no place that can provide refuge for those who are in this country illegally. Not the Super Bowl, not anywhere else,” Lewandowski stated firmly.

The official added that, even though it is a Bad Bunny concert as part of one of the most important sporting events in the United States, authorities will enforce the law without exceptions.

“We are going to enforce the law everywhere. We will ensure the safety of Americans. This is a directive from the president. If you are in this country without documents, do yourself a favor: go home,” he emphasized.
These statements reflect not only the Trump administration’s hardline stance on irregular immigration, but also political discomfort over Bad Bunny being chosen as the main halftime performer.

Lewandowski did not hide his discontent, calling it a “shame” that an artist who, according to him, “seems to hate the United States so much,” was selected to headline the event.
His words have stirred controversy, as Bad Bunny is currently one of the most influential and far-reaching artists globally, with a strong connection to the Latino community both inside and outside the U.S.
According to Telemundo, the Puerto Rican’s designation as Super Bowl halftime leader has divided public opinion.
ICE at Super Bowl Divides Public Opinion
The controversy grew more intense because the singer had previously claimed to have avoided including the United States in his world tour, citing possible ICE raids at his concert venues.
With his upcoming performance, Bad Bunny will make history as the first Latino artist to perform solo during the Super Bowl halftime show.
The event is scheduled for February 8 in Santa Clara, California, and is expected to draw millions of viewers both inside and outside the country.
The presence of ICE at Super Bowl adds an element of tension, against a backdrop of polarized politics and a renewed national debate on immigration.
