NHC issues bulletin for Tropical Storm Oscar

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued a bulletin regarding Tropical Storm Oscar, which continues to bring heavy rains to parts of eastern Cuba and the southeastern Bahamas.

According to the 8:00 p.m. EDT report, Oscar is located 145 miles east of Camagüey, Cuba, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph.

The NHC warns of heavy rainfall in eastern Cuba, particularly in the Sierra Maestra, with accumulated precipitation of 7 to 14 inches, and isolated amounts reaching up to 20 inches.

These rains could result in dangerous flash floods and landslides.

In the Bahamas, 3 to 5 inches of rain are expected, with isolated areas receiving up to 8 inches.

Tropical storm conditions, with gusty winds, will also affect parts of the central and southeastern Bahamas.

The NHC noted that Oscar is moving north-northeast at a speed of 7 mph and is expected to maintain this course over the next few days.

The storm could strengthen slightly before moving toward the central Bahamas on Tuesday.
