On Wednesday, severe weather struck the central United States, causing significant damage in Missouri and Illinois due to wind gusts and tornadoes.
Millions of people in the Midwest and Great Lakes regions remained under alert due to the threat of tornadoes and severe storms.
From early morning, tornado warnings were issued for millions of people in Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, and Indiana.
Cities such as St. Louis and Cape Girardeau in Missouri, and Quincy, Springfield, and Champaign in Illinois, were affected by the alerts.

In Indiana, Evansville, Indianapolis, Bloomington, Lafayette, and Fort Wayne were under watch throughout the afternoon.
Additionally, Paducah and Louisville in Kentucky were on alert due to the storms.

The severe thunderstorm alert also extended into parts of Michigan and Ohio through the night.
In Missouri, EF-1 tornado damage was reported in Pike County, according to the National Weather Service.

A video from Jacksonville, Illinois, showed a large tornado that destroyed everything in its path.
In Menard County, northeast of Jacksonville, a funnel-shaped cloud was spotted over a field.
By the afternoon, Indiana experienced intense storms with strong winds and rain.
