Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who sparked the ire of Puerto Ricans by referring to their island as a dump during a political rally where he was a guest of candidate Donald Trump, has broken his silence.
Hinchcliffe made it clear today that he does not intend to apologize «to anyone» for those words.
The comedian admitted that Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden in New York was perhaps not the best place to make those remarks.

By then, his words had already caused a major controversy, prompting Puerto Rican artists like Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Marc Anthony to lash out at him.
They also accused him of being racist and called for a vote against Trump.
«I am the news.»
In that podcast, Tony Hinchcliffe claims it was «a speech about freedom of speech» and that’s why he was the target of criticism.
«I am the news. I referred to Puerto Rico, which currently has a landfill problem, all its landfills are filled to the brim.»
«Unfortunately, I am the only person who knew about this,» he told his audience, after which he assured that he loves Puerto Ricans.
«They are very smart people, street-smart. They are smart enough to know when they are being used as political fodder. That’s what’s happening right now,» he stated.
Tony Hinchcliffe won’t apologize!
Tony Hinchcliffe says «I apologize to absolutely nobody» for that Puerto Rico joke and «perhaps (a Trump rally) wasn’t the best f*cking place to do this set at.»

Tony Hinchcliffe then reaffirmed that he will not apologize «to absolutely no one. Not to Puerto Ricans, not to whites, not to blacks, not to Palestinians, not to Jews,» and not even «to my own mother» whom he also mocked at Madison.
«Maybe that place at that time was not the best place» for those comments «but anyway, to the media and anyone trying to defame me online: that’s what I do and that’s never going to change,» he held.
Apparently, Hinchcliffe was selected for the Trump rally to try to connect with younger audiences who listen to podcasts instead of traditional media.
Also for his tone of political incorrectness, but after the controversy erupted over the comments, Trump said he didn’t even know him.
