Do They Want to Close the Borders?

Many in the community shared this sentiment of outrage, highlighting the tensions and divisions surrounding the immigration issue.
«I used to feel sorry for immigrants, but since this happened, it made me change my mind about who to let in and who not,» said Christine Núñez, a relative of Jocelyn Nungaray.
«I can’t say that all are bad; there are good people, but they need to close the borders and not let everyone in, and look at each individual,» Núñez told the New York Post.
During the service, officials also called for unity and action. «We are sad but outraged and angry that this happened in our community,» said Mayor Whitmire.
Lingering Memory

During the service, Jocelyn Nungaray was remembered with love and sorrow.
«I will always remember her beautiful big smile and her beautiful bright eyes, and her beautiful curls,» said her great-aunt Julie Gonzales.
She described Jocelyn as a soft-spoken, reserved child who loved books, «Stranger Things,» Harry Potter, and baking, reported AP.
One of her favorite songs, «Coney Island Baby» by The Excellents, played as mourners watched a slideshow of her life.
What Happened to the Suspects in Jocelyn Nungaray’s Death?

Venezuelans Johan José Martínez-Rangel, 22, and Franklin José Peña Ramos, 26, have been charged with murder in connection with Jocelyn’s death.
Both men, who entered the United States illegally, are detained in Harris County Jail with bail set at $10 million each.
The U.S. Border Patrol initially arrested Martínez-Rangel and Peña Ramos near El Paso and later released them with a notice to appear in court.
According to prosecutors, the suspects lured Jocelyn under a bridge, where they attacked and killed her before dumping her body in the creek, reported AP.
