Neighbors and attendees described scenes of chaos and desperation as they tried to escape the gunfire.

Investigators said the motive remains unclear, though they have not ruled out possible prior conflicts among those involved.
Local police urged caution as they review security footage and witness statements.
FBI joins investigation into Mississippi shooting

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has joined the case to assist local authorities under the Law Enforcement Assistance for Violent Crimes Act, enacted in 2010.
That law, passed during the Obama administration, allows federal agencies to collaborate in mass shooting investigations when requested by local law enforcement.
The FBI has asked the public to share videos, photos, or any information that may help clarify what happened in Leland.
Federal investigators believe that witness footage could be key in identifying additional suspects and reconstructing the exact sequence of the attack.
Leland community in shock
The tragedy has left a deep wound in the community, which is known for its quiet, small-town life in the Mississippi Delta.
Families and neighbors gathered in local churches to honor the victims and offer support to the injured.
Authorities confirmed that several victims remain hospitalized — some in critical condition — due to the severity of their injuries.
The Mississippi shooting was the deadliest of three shootings reported that same weekend across small towns in the state, which together claimed eight lives.
