Shooting at Michigan Hospital Leaves One Injured and Triggers Police Operation

A worker at Corewell Health Hospital in Troy, Michigan, shot a colleague in the hospital’s parking lot.

The incident occurred just after 7 a.m., leaving the victim, a 25-year-old man, with five gunshot wounds.

Despite his injuries, the wounded worker is stable and was able to provide the police with the name of the assailant.

The suspect, who has been identified but not yet apprehended, fled the scene, and authorities have launched an operation to locate him.

SWAT teams were recorded clearing patient rooms inside the hospital as a security measure.

A video on social media showed a doctor alerting a patient and a paramedic about the ongoing emergency.

In the clip, armed officers instruct doctors and patients to stay in their rooms until further notice.

Police have ruled out that the shooter is still inside the hospital, but the building remained under guard for several hours.

Security forces imposed a «shelter in place» order to protect medical staff and patients.

Hospital workers took refuge in the supply room while the attacker was still at large.

Authorities issued an alert message asking the community to avoid the area and follow safety protocols.

Witnesses indicated that the shooting may have started in the hospital’s radiology department.

More than two dozen police vehicles were seen arriving at the scene in response to the shooting.

Local reporters witnessed officers in tactical gear leaving the police department with high-caliber rifles.

Nearby schools went into «soft lockdown» to protect students while the operation was underway.

The hospital canceled all scheduled medical appointments and asked its staff not to come to work.

Corewell Health, located 24 miles north of Detroit, remains under strict police surveillance as the investigation into the shooting at the Michigan hospital progresses.
