A woman is accused of letting her boyfriend die after placing him in a suitcase in their home.

Jury members reached the verdict against her on Friday night, four years after her arrest for the death of Jorge Torres.

Boone had pleaded not guilty. The jury deliberated for 90 minutes.

Sarah Boone initially told Orange County detectives that she and Torres were playing hide and seek.

It was February 23, 2020, at their residence in Winter Park, Florida.

Allegedly, both thought it would be fun for Jorge Torres to get inside the suitcase.

They had been drinking, and she decided to go to bed, thinking her boyfriend could get out of the suitcase on his own.

When she woke up the next morning, Sarah Boone couldn’t find Torres but then remembered he was in the suitcase.

She opened it and found him unresponsive, the report states. Detectives charged her with murder after finding videos on her cellphone.

The videos show Jorge yelling from inside the suitcase that he couldn’t breathe, repeatedly calling out Sarah’s name.

During the trial, Boone testified that previous violent incidents between them made her perceive an imminent threat of harm.

Sarah Boone claimed she acted in self-defense by keeping Jorge inside the suitcase.

“Yes, that’s what you do when you strangle me,” Boone said in one of the videos she recorded that night.

“Oh, that’s what I feel when you cheat on me.”

All of this is documented in the arrest report, as reported by The Associated Press.

Torres had scratches on his back and neck, and bruises on his shoulder, skull, and forehead from blunt force trauma.

Additionally, Sarah Boone’s boyfriend had a cut near his broken lip.

Boone had gone through several attorneys since her arrest, contributing to delays in her trial, which lasted 10 days.

Her sentencing is scheduled for December 2, and she faces life in prison.
