Symptoms of this infection include fever, muscle aches, headaches, and seizures. In severe cases, it can lead to death.
The recalled products were produced between June 19, 2024, and October 8, 2024.
These products were distributed nationwide, affecting chains like Kroger, Trader Joe’s, Aldi, H-E-B, Walmart, Target, and well-known brands like Jenny Craig, Boston Market, Amazon Fresh, Rao’s, and Dole.
Most of the affected foods are ready-to-eat salads, bowls, and prepared meals from BrucePac’s plant in Oklahoma.
The affected products bear the establishment numbers “51205 or P-51205” inside or below the USDA inspection mark.
The USDA has published a 326-page list of specific products that have been recalled, according to the FDA.
Consumer Recommendations
Consumers are advised to check the labels and establishment numbers to avoid consuming the contaminated products. This recall follows other recent incidents related to listeria.
In July, a Boar’s Head plant in Virginia was at the center of a deadly listeria outbreak that killed at least 10 people and sickened more than 60 in 19 states.
This new BrucePac recall is being closely monitored by the USDA and other public health agencies.
The Department of Agriculture has also announced an internal investigation into how it has handled repeated sanitation violations at the Virginia plant.
