Today, the Governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy, announced the allocation of $2.5 million in federal funds to assist immigrants, as disclosed by EFE.

The assistance is focused on the process of applying for a work permit, a measure recently announced by President Joe Biden’s administration, according to EFE.

In a statement from Murphy, it was shared that the granted funds will be used to guide migrants regarding this benefit.

Moreover, support will be provided with applications through collaboration with community organizations and service providers, EFE reports.

EFE has determined that two portals have been created to connect immigrants with job opportunities and link employers with those seeking work.

The Department of Labor has established a new webpage, available in both English and Spanish, https://www.nj.gov/labor/ayuda/, aimed at immigrants interested in finding employment and for employers.

Last week, the Biden Administration announced an extension of the Temporary Protected Status (TPS), according to EFE.

The expansion of the TPS will benefit Venezuelans and migrants from Afghanistan, enabling them to work and avoid deportation, EFE disclosed.

«New Jersey is a state that believes in providing equal opportunities for people to build their lives and the lives of their families,» said Governor Murphy.

He stated that by assisting eligible immigrants in obtaining their work permits, «we will strengthen our state’s workforce,» according to EFE.

He reminded that some of the newcomers immediately meet the conditions to apply for the Employment Authorization Document.

This includes individuals released on parole through the process for foreigners coming from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, as EFE indicated.

Support will be granted after receiving an appointment in the Customs and Border Protection Agency application and presenting it (CBO one) upon entering the country, EFE reported.

These individuals are not subject to a waiting period; however, only a small percentage of them have managed to expedite the process, according to the White House, EFE indicated.

«However, (asylum seekers) must have a pending asylum application for at least 150 days before applying for an EAD,» the governor’s statement said.

«Governor Murphy immediately directed the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development to create a path to employment,» it was emphasized.

This is a clear indication that the New Jersey government seeks not only to assist migrants in finding work but also to encourage active inclusion in the local workforce.

These portals will not only be useful for migrants but will also be a valuable tool for companies seeking talented and committed employees.

The initiative to enable a website to facilitate the job application process is particularly relevant in the digital age in which we live.

By providing a dedicated digital platform for this purpose, the New Jersey government is adapting to the changing needs of society.
