The singer and the performer of «Cuéntame» divorced in 2011. For a long time he and his ex avoided talking about the reasons they separated. «What could have been a factor was the fact that she traveled a lot and I did too. We were used to one or the other being gone. (Lucero) did tours, soap operas and they lasted for many episodes,» says the singer in the interview.

Mijares dismisses doubts about major marital problems

In the interview, the singer revealed that what caused them to separate was that both were very focused on their artistic careers. They both traveled a lot, and he felt that they were becoming less of a nuclear family, therefore the separation happened gradually.

Mijares stated that he and Lucero maintain a good friendship. He also has a good relationship with the singer’s mother, Mrs. Lucero León. As he was finishing discussing their divorce, the singer reaffirmed that his separation from his wife was as friendly as possible. He also said they told their children in a very mature way.

Lucero and Mijares are happy to have a daughter who has inherited both of her parents’ great voices. Fourteen-year-old Lucerito’s parents have made sure that she follows in their steps to become a great artist. Mijares has a song that he recorded live with his little girl.

Singer Manuel Mijares declares himself a fan of Christmas and everything that the Christmas season entails. He told «El universal» that it’s customary for many artists in the United States to release a Christmas album, such as Luis Miguel, Emmanuel and himself.

All this controversy arose from Berth-Oh asking Mijares if his song «Si me tenías» was dedicated to someone special. The singer responded that it was not addressed to anyone in particular, that in fact the song had not even been composed by him.
