On Thursday, February 28, the Mexican embassy in Qatar released a statement on social media.
They say they will appeal to «international cooperation» with the aim of ensuring the well-being and integrity of Manuel Guerrero.
They added that they hope that Manuel Guerrero will be reunited with his family as soon as possible.
In an earlier statement they had said they couldn’t intervene in the case because he has dual citizenship (Mexican and British).

The Mexican embassy in Qatar cannot intervene «because the interested party has registered his residence in Qatar as a national of the United Kingdom…»
«The consulate of that country in Doha has been the entity responsible and recognized by Qatari authorities to carry out consular procedures on his behalf.»
Enrique Guerrero believes it is positive that the Foreign Ministry retracted this statement and assured that they will intervene in the case.
However, Manuel Guerrero’s brother stated that he and organizations that protect the rights of LGBTQ+ people will monitor the process.
