In contrast, Donald Trump did not miss the opportunity and appeared on Rogan’s podcast, where he spoke for three hours.
This interview turned out to be a resounding success, accumulating over 47 million views on YouTube.
This allowed the Republican candidate’s message to reach millions of viewers.
Van Jones, former advisor to President Barack Obama and also a CNN analyst, noted that this visibility was key in Trump’s campaign.
As it managed to capture the attention of a demographic that is traditionally difficult to mobilize.
Harris’ campaign tried to negotiate her participation in the podcast, but Joe Rogan rejected the proposed conditions.
The vice president’s offer included the host traveling to her location and limiting the interview to one hour, which Rogan declined.
Rogan stated on X that he would accept Harris’ participation in his podcast, but only under his conditions at his studio in Austin, Texas.
Some interpreted Harris’ refusal to adjust to Rogan’s conditions as a sign of inflexibility in her campaign.
And, in Yang’s words, it reflected a possible insecurity of her team regarding her ability to connect with this particular audience.
Experts highlight that Trump’s campaign adopted an aggressive and adaptable approach, directly impacting a key audience.
By not taking advantage of this space, Kamala Harris failed to influence a sector that could have been decisive in a highly competitive election.
Trump’s strategy of using alternative media to reach voters, like Rogan’s podcast, contrasts with Harris’ more traditional approach.
