A federal judge has temporarily blocked Donald Trump’s order to suspend U.S. foreign aid.
The ruling was issued by District of Columbia Judge Amir Ali after a lawsuit was filed by two health organizations.
Both organizations receive U.S. government funding to finance programs abroad.
The measure prevents, for now, the government from suspending or canceling previously approved aid.
Trump Froze Foreign Aid, Causing Global Alarm

Trump had ordered the freezing of foreign aid at the end of January.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio executed the directive, with exceptions made for Israel and Egypt.
Only emergency food shipments were permitted in cases of extreme crisis.
The decision alarmed humanitarian organizations that rely on these funds.
The United States is the world’s largest provider of foreign aid, with $72 billion allocated in 2023.
This accounts for 40% of global humanitarian assistance, according to the United Nations.

The Trump administration justified the measure, arguing that it was necessary to strengthen national security and the economy.
The State Department defended the 90-day suspension, claiming it was a way to prevent wasteful spending.
Additionally, 50 senior USAID officials were suspended for alleged resistance to the order.
