One person who witnessed the arrest stated that the woman “was simply leaving for work like any other day,” describing the ICE operation as “intimidating and disproportionate.”
Tension escalated when neighbors began recording the officers, who refused to provide details about the arrest and only said they were “doing their job.”
The video showing how ICE arrests the Chicago woman quickly went viral, with thousands expressing concern over the growing number of immigration raids in Latino communities — especially across Midwestern states like Illinois.

So far, the woman’s identity has not been publicly disclosed, nor have the exact charges justifying her detention.
It also remains unclear whether she had prior immigration history or if the arrest was part of a selective operation involving racial profiling.
The case unfolds amid a national climate of heightened ICE enforcement and an intensifying political debate over immigration and deportation policies.
