“Please, my children.” ICE arrests woman as she pleads for her kids

On May 28, a woman was recorded as she was detained by immigration agents in the parking lot of the Immigration Court in San Antonio, Texas.

In the video, the distraught woman cried out desperately for her children, who were at school.

“Please, my children… help, my children,” she pleaded as she struggled to free herself from the agents.

The footage shows three men detaining the woman, one of whom responds in Spanish when she asks if they are immigration agents: “Yes, we are.”

The video continues to show the woman, visibly shaken, being led through the parking lot as she continues to scream.

A witness recorded the incident, visibly alarmed, and warned others present: “Please don’t come to the center. They’re taking everyone.”

The person who filmed the video explained that the woman had arrived at court, but it was unclear whether her appointment had been canceled or if she was heading to a hearing.

After her arrest, ICE agents loaded the woman onto a bus along with another young woman who was also detained, according to Univision.

The witness mentioned that, following this event, ICE agents detained several other immigrants while they were at court for their scheduled appointments with attorneys.

That same day, multiple reports indicated that ICE agents were arresting dozens of immigrants in the vicinity of the court.

According to witnesses, at least two buses full of detainees were seen at the location. Many of those detained had come to court hoping to resolve their immigration status.

“My son had an appointment with a lawyer, and now they’re taking him without giving any kind of explanation,” said one visibly upset woman.

Another witness expressed confusion at seeing a young woman arrested without warning, questioning the legality of the detentions.

Conclusion

In response to the arrests, an ICE spokesperson told Univision San Antonio that the agency is following a new policy under Secretary Noem’s administration, which reverses the “catch and release” measures implemented by the Biden administration.

According to the spokesperson, immigrants who arrived illegally in the U.S. within the last two years are subject to expedited deportation.

The spokesperson also emphasized that those with valid credible fear claims will continue through immigration proceedings, while those without such claims face possible immediate deportation.
