Óscar Loarca, a 70-year-old Guatemalan immigrant, was arrested by ICE agents as he left a Walmart supermarketin Palm Beach, Florida.

The longtime resident, who arrived in the U.S. in 1972 at the age of 18, has spent his entire life working in constructionand even built his own company.

Despite paying taxes and following the law, he now faces deportation to a country he barely knows, where he has no family or roots.

According to his family’s account, Loarca was followed for several blocks by an officer after leaving the supermarket.

Óscar Loarca previously had a valid license, but was unable to renew it due to ongoing changes in immigration laws.

Without the opportunity to defend himself, Loarca was taken to the Palm Beach detention center, where he has been incarcerated for over ten days.

The current administration had pledged to focus deportation efforts on criminals.

However, Óscar Loarca, a man with no criminal record and a lifetime of honest work, now faces removal.

Recent ICE raids have targeted numerous non-criminal immigrants, separating them from their families and impacting entire communities.

Loarca was on the verge of starting a new roofing job, but now faces expulsion from the country where he has lived for nearly five decades.

If deported, he would be forced to start over in Guatemala, a country where he has no family, no resources, and no livelihood.

In response to the crisis, his family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover legal expenses and attempt to stop his deportation.

«I am the daughter of Óscar Loarca, a Guatemalan man who emigrated to the United States at 21, just like every immigrant, in search of a better future,» his daughter wrote on the platform.

«He met my mother, built a family, and has fought tirelessly to legalize his status.»

«On Sunday, while shopping at Walmart, an officer ran his plates, waited for him to drive, then pulled him over and arrested him,» she revealed.

«I had never experienced such blatant discrimination and racism against our community firsthand.»

Loarca’s family is desperate, pleading for support to try to halt his deportation.

While his family and friends fight for his release, Óscar Loarca remains detained at the Palm Beach detention center.

His case is one of many, highlighting the harsh impact of immigration policies on hardworking individuals who have spent their lives contributing to the U.S. economy.
