Actor and director George Clooney has called on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race and make way for a new candidate.

Clooney, a self-proclaimed Democrat, has been involved in various presidential campaigns in the U.S. and supported Biden’s re-election.

The American actor, along with Julia Roberts, led a fundraising event for Biden last month.

In an opinion piece published in the New York Times, Clooney expressed his support for Biden as a senator, vice president, and president.

«I consider him a friend and I believe in him. I believe in his character and morals,» Clooney stated.

However, Clooney emphasized that the only battle Biden cannot win is against time.

The Biden seeking re-election now is not the same as in 2010 when he was vice president, the actor noted.

Clooney mentioned that the Joe Biden he saw at the fundraising event was not the same as in 2010 or even 2020.

The actor pointed out that Biden’s debate with Donald Trump made it clear that the current president should step down from the race.

Many Democratic leaders believe that Biden is not fit to continue in the race, according to Clooney.

«We are all so terrified by the prospect of a second Trump term that we have chosen to ignore the warning signs,» Clooney remarked.

The actor stressed that the main issue is Biden’s age, which cannot be reversed.

Clooney asserted that Democrats will lose the chance to control Congress if Biden remains the candidate.

«This is not just my opinion; it’s the opinion of every congressman and governor I have spoken to privately,» he concluded.
