- El Tri will hold a microcycle in August expected to benefit the team
- Only Liga MX players will participate
- Part of the roadmap to 2026
The Mexican Football Federation announced a new training camp from August 25 to 27, focused exclusively on Liga MX players, as part of Javier Aguirre’s preparation plan for the 2026 World Cup.
Roster to be revealed on August 22
Javier Aguirre will announce his call-up list three days before the start of the microcycle, which will take place at the High-Performance Center (CAR). Players involved in the semifinals of the Leagues Cup, as well as those called up to the U-20 squad preparing for the World Cup in Chile, will not be included.
Part of a bigger plan
This camp is part of the broader project Javier Aguirre presented to the FMF, which includes two training camps — the first in August 2025 and another in February 2026.

Javier Aguirre’s plan includes:
- Releasing national team players 6.5 weeks before the 2026 World Cup.
- Playing the Clausura 2026 playoffs without national team call-ups.
- Holding two friendly matches in January without affecting Liga MX.
- Conducting two pre-World Cup camps (August 2025 and February 2026).
- Eliminating the Play-In round of Clausura 2026 to end the tournament earlier.
