BURIED IN THE SAND! A dramatic and terrifying scene took place in northern Michigan, where a 12-year-old boy was trapped under the sand.

The incident occurred at Silver Lake Sand Dunes, a popular recreational area along Lake Michigan, as reported by The Associated Press.

The incident that happened Sunday night, mobilized bystanders, rescuers, police, and firefighters in a desperate effort to save the child.

The boy and his younger brother were enjoying an afternoon playing on the dunes, unaware of the risk they would face.

The children continued to play, until they decided to dig a hole in the sand, an apparently innocent and common activity among children.

However, what started as play quickly turned into a life-or-death situation when the sand suddenly collapsed, burying the 12-year-old boy.

The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Craig Mast, was immediately notified of the accident.

Craig Mast described the situation as «very, very scary,» highlighting the urgency and danger posed by the sand collapse in the Michigan dune.

They tried to help!

Bystanders in the area did not hesitate to act, using their hands to try to free the trapped child.

Their initial effort was soon supported by the arrival of police and firefighters, who joined the frantic rescue operation.

For more than 10 minutes, the community worked tirelessly, fighting against time and the limitations of improvised tools to free the child.

These minutes must have felt like an eternity for everyone involved, especially for the child trapped in the dune and his younger brother, who witnessed the incident.

Miraculously saved!

The tension and fear were palpable, but the determination of the rescuers and bystanders never wavered.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, they managed to free the child from the dune, AP reported.

Although he had been trapped for a considerable period, the child was found with a weak pulse but still alive.

His critical condition required immediate medical attention, and he was urgently airlifted to a nearby hospital.
