- U.S. doubles bounty for the capture of Nicolás Maduro
- Prosecutors accuse him of drug trafficking
- Assets and cocaine linked to him seized
The U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, announced Thursday a record $50 million reward for information leading to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
This amount doubles the previous offer of $25 million, in place since January 2025, marking a new chapter in the U.S. offensive against the leader accused of drug trafficking and terrorism.
The formal indictment against Maduro was filed in 2020, during Donald Trump’s presidency, over charges of international drug trafficking and ties to criminal organizations.
Bondi called the reward “historic” in a video posted on her social media, according to EFE and Univision.

“Maduro is one of the biggest drug traffickers in the world and a direct threat to the national security of the United States,” said the Attorney General.
According to Bondi, the Venezuelan president relies on alliances with organizations such as the Sinaloa Cartel and the Cartel of the Sun to bring drugs and violence into U.S. territory.

Of that amount, nearly seven tons are directly tied to the Venezuelan leader, representing a key source of funding for Venezuelan and Mexican cartels.
In addition, the U.S. Department of Justice has confiscated assets valued at more than $700 million, allegedly linked to Maduro.
The seized property includes two private jets and nine luxury vehicles.
Bondi stressed that Maduro will not go unpunished and that U.S. justice will continue its efforts to apprehend him.
Conclusion
“Maduro will not escape justice and will be held accountable for his heinous crimes,” concluded the Attorney General.
With this new measure, the United States intensifies its international pressure on the Venezuelan government and strengthens its commitment to the global fight against drug trafficking.
