Andre Braugher, the renowned Emmy-winning actor, recognized for his outstanding work in series such as Homicide: Life on The Street and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, has died.
He passed away on Monday at the age of 61, Jennifer Allen, Braugher’s publicist, confirmed to The Associated Press.

Braugher’s death occurred after a brief illness, according to The Associated Press.
Born in Chicago, Braugher left an indelible mark on the film and television industry.
His role in the 1989 film Glory, where he shared credits with renowned figures such as Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington, marked the beginning of his film career.
The film, which told the story of an Black military regiment during the Civil War, brought him wide acclaim.
He was an icon in the world of entertainment

Braugher, in an interview with The Associated Press in 2019, talked about the difficulties he faced finding opportunities in Hollywood, where roles for Black actors were limited.
His portrayal of Detective Frank Pembleton in Homicide: Life on the Street, an NBC police procedural, made him a household name.
Braugher won his first Emmy as a lead actor in a drama series in 1998 for his role in the gritty drama, an achievement that marked a milestone in his career.
And this would not be his only award.
He won many awards

In 2006, he won his second Emmy for lead actor in a miniseries or movie for his appearance in the FX limited series Thief, according to AP.
Throughout his career, Braugher accumulated a total of 11 Emmy nominations, demonstrating his versatility and talent in a variety of genres.
Later, the actor drastically changed his tone by playing a completely different type of police officer in a new context.
His role as Captain Ray Holt in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, a hit comedy starring Andy Samberg, demonstrated the diversity and breadth of his acting abilities.
Braugher’s death leaves a deep void

The series, which ran for eight seasons from 2013 to 2021 on Fox and NBC, allowed Braugher to win over new audiences and he was highly praise for his comedy chops.
