His name has graced the covers of self-help and marriage books, like the one he wrote himself: How to Save Your Marriage.

However, he chose not to follow his own advice and committed the most heinous of crimes against his wife. But who is Derek Medina?

The murderer posted a photograph of his wife’s dead body on Facebook, accompanied by what appeared to be a confession of a horrifying act.

Following this, Medina surrendered to authorities at a South Miami police station and admitted to killing his wife.

The disturbing post on Medina’s Facebook page displayed an image of a woman dressed in black, lying on her back.

Friends and acquaintances, incredulous at the gruesome post, began to ask Medina about the horrific incident.

It’s worth remembering that Medina’s Facebook profile was deleted approximately five hours after he posted this macabre image in 2013.

The Miami community was stunned and devastated by this senseless act, struggling to comprehend how something so horrifying could happen in their own city.

The social media impact of Medina’s actions

Initial investigations reported that they were having marriage problems, though specific details about what led to this violent outcome have not been revealed.

Moreover, the police initiated an exhaustive investigation to gather evidence and reconstruct the tragic event in search of answers to shed light on this heart-wrenching incident, according to ABC News.

Derek Medina initially admitted to shooting his wife Jennifer Alfonso six to eight times.

However, he subsequently changed his story, insisting that he was acting in self-defense because Alfonso was behaving erratically and violently.

The mystery behind the murder

The Florida medical examiner who conducted Alfonso’s autopsy did not test for bath salts.

They had access to her blood, urine, tissue, hair and stomach contents at the time of her death, according to Daily Mail.

«I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys take care Facebook people you will see me in the news,» he wrote in the post.

«My wife was hitting me, and I couldn’t take the abuse anymore, so I did what I did. I hope you understand,» Derek concluded.
