The United States issued a travel advisory on Wednesday urging citizens to avoid going to Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war.
Additionally, it strongly recommends reconsidering travel plans to other countries in the region.
The warning comes after the bloody surprise attack carried out by Hamas against Israel, which has claimed the lives of at least 22 American citizens.

A travel advisory has also been issued for the Gaza Strip, where it is at a Level 4 – Do Not Travel.
The State Department has raised the advisory for Israel and the occupied West Bank to Level 3 – Reconsider Travel.
Additionally, the number of US nationals who may have been kidnapped by Hamas remains uncertain.
This increases concern about the safety of American citizens in the region.
US officials are prohibited from entering Gaza

The US State Department has emphasized the dangerousness of the Gaza Strip, highlighting the ongoing threat of «terrorism, civil unrest and armed conflict.»
Furthermore, they stress that the United States Government cannot provide consular services in Gaza.
This is because diplomatic personnel are prohibited from entering the Strip.
It is important to remember that Hamas, the group that controls Gaza, is classified by Washington as a terrorist organization.
What the US government warns

The travel alert emphasizes that rocket launches from the Gaza Strip towards Israel may occur at any time.
This would trigger military responses by Israeli forces.
Furthermore, in the midst of armed conflicts, it is common for border crossings between Gaza, Israel and Egypt to be closed.
Regarding Israel and the occupied West Bank, the State Department warns of the constant threat of «terrorism and civil unrest.»
Terrible death toll of the Israel-Hamas war

In addition, the United States diplomatic and consular personnel in the region are restricted to only making emergency trips.
That limitation could be further intensified in the event of new security threats.
The surprise attack by Hamas, which occurred last Saturday and has started an ongoing war with heavy exchanges of fire, has had heartbreaking consequences.
In Israel, at least 1,200 deaths and more than 2,900 injuries have been recorded as a result of the attacks.
Why was the travel advisory issued?

Meanwhile, in Gaza, the Palestinian Ministry of Health has reported 950 deaths and at least 5,000 injuries.
The travel advisory seeks to protect US citizens in the face of increasing violence in the region and growing threats to their safety.
