Tragedy on the road in Mexico. Two actors from the Netflix series The Chosen One were killed and six other members of the cast and production team were injured after the van they were traveling in crashed near Mulegé, on the Baja California peninsula, in Mexico.
Local media reported that the accident occurred on Thursday, saying the van overturned after going off the road in a desert area. Apparently, the production team had been working at that time in the nearby area of Santa Rosalía, according to the AP news agency.
Two The Chosen One actors died in a tragic accident in Mexico

The Ministry of Culture of Baja California confirmed Friday that Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar were the two actors who died. Netflix describes The Chosen One as: “A 12-year-old boy discovers that he is Jesus Christ and that he has come back to Earth to save humanity. Based on the comic book series by Mark Millar and Peter Gross.»
According to the call for auditions, the series is being filmed by an independent production company, reported the AP. And after the tragic accident, it is still unknown how production will be affected, according to Fox News.
The production company is blamed

El Universal reported on the death of the actors and cultural managers Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar «Paco Mufote» in the traffic accident. The outlet indicated that one of their colleagues accused the production company of putting them at risk by not providing the necessary resources or adequate equipment so that the team could travel.
In a post on his official website, novelist Rick Zazueta asserted that the company used vehicles that were in poor condition to transport the members of the production, even when they had to travel between cities hundreds of kilometers away on dangerous roads.
«Someone was responsible»

“Their death is a tragedy not only because of the loss of this talent, but mainly because someone was responsible. The actors have not stopped complaining about how badly they are being treated specifically in terms of transportation and logistics… old panels with smooth tires, tired and overworked drivers, the actors transported like cattle to save a few pesos,” reads Rick Zazueta’s post cited by El Universal.
According to local outlets, on Thursday a car accident was reported on the peninsular highway at the height of the Santa Rosalía-Loreto highway section. A white van overturned killing two people and injuring several more. When the rescuers arrived at the site, Raymundo Garduño Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar «Paco Mufote» had already died, while the rest of the people who were inside the vehicle were taken to a nearby clinic. They were all part of the production team for Netflix’s The Chosen One.
The actors’ deaths are mourned

Through a press release, El Universal stated that the Secretary of Culture of Baja California mourned the death of the actors and cultural promoters. “The Secretary of Culture of Baja California deeply regrets the death of the renowned stage creator, actor and promoter of the Inmigrantes Teatro company and organizer of the Semana de Teatro para Niños del ICBC Raymundo Garduño Cruz. The artistic and Baja Californian community loses an important cultural manager and great enthusiast of the scenic art,” the statement read.
Juan González, also known as “Paco Mufote”, was a renowned promoter, actor and musician from Baja California. While Raymundo Garduño was part of the Immigrant Theater company Teatro para Niños del ICBC Raymundo Garduño Cruz, according to El Universal.
