The event, which took place less than six weeks before the state’s primary, was a rally for Trump, still the favorite for the Republican presidential nomination.
In his speech, Trump expressed his determination to end what he calls the Biden administration’s open border policies.
He seeks to stop what he referred to as an «invasion along the southern border» and begin what he described as «the largest and most massive deportation operation in the country.»
Despite the lack of details about his plan, the message resonated strongly at a time when Biden is also under fire for his immigration policies.
The National Guard is mobilized in Arizona

Biden is in the middle of negotiations with Republican senators to strengthen the asylum system, in exchange for allocating more than $60 billion to Ukraine.
The influx of migrants has generated tension along the U.S. border, particularly in Arizona.
There, Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs was forced to mobilize the National Guard to deal with the situation.
Trump, in his speech, again criticized Biden’s foreign policy, emphasizing his intention to reinstate his travel ban for certain countries.
Who does Trump want to keep out of the country?

The former president says he will to prohibit travelers who are not aligned with U.S. and Israel policy, according to EFE.
This travel ban, implemented during his first term, triggered multiple lawsuits and controversies.
Rhetoric focused on immigration and border security has been a constant in Trump’s political strategy.
The Republican frontrunner seeks to appeal to a far right sector concerned about the situation on the southern border and the influx of migrants.
Biden signals willingness to make drastic changes to asylum

U.S. President Joe Biden has signaled he may be willing to break his campaign promises and drastically limit asylum.
This would be in exchange for Republicans supporting his request for the vast sum of $60 billion in aid for Ukraine.
In negotiations with senators from the opposition party, Democratic legislators and government officials have proposed resuming «expedited removal» at the border.
He is also considering expanding the government’s ability to deport migrants, among other restrictive measures, sources close to the discussions told EFE.
Would Biden betray immigrants?

The White House has not confirmed these leaks, but has indicated that the president is «open to compromise.»
This depends on the proposals gaining sufficient support, a government spokesperson told EFE in written statements.
To convince Republicans to agree to this military spending, the White House will also approve more money to go to border security.
Instead of rejecting GOP demands, the White House has redoubled its influence in the talks, sending officials from the Department of Homeland Security, according to EFE.
