Trump repeated his comments at another event in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he stood firm in his position despite the negative backlash.

Maria Town, president of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), condemned Trump’s use of «ableist» language, emphasizing that such comments reveal more about his biases than about Harris or anyone with a disability.

«Trump perpetuates the false belief that if someone has a disability, they are less human and less deserving of dignity,» Town said.

The AAPD has called on leaders from both parties to denounce the use of ableist language in the 2024 campaign.
