According to two anonymous federal officials, the measure is part of a broader government review of diversity initiatives on college campuses.

Cornell and Northwestern Universities are among several schools scrutinized for efforts to increase campus diversity.

These actions have now become flashpoints in the national debate over antisemitism and campus free speech.

Other universities—including Columbia, Harvard, and Brown—have also had their federal funding threatened in recent weeks.

Columbia agreed to federal terms to restore $400 million in grants.
