The President of the United States, Donald Trump, launched harsh criticism this Saturday against billionaire Elon Musk, labeling him a “derailed train” after the businessman announced plans to create a third political party called the America Party.

In a message posted on his social network Truth Social, Trump lamented Musk’s political shift in recent weeks.

And predicted the failure of the new project, arguing that the U.S. electoral system is designed for a two-party system and does not favor alternative options.

So reported EFE.

Trump calls Musk a “derailed train” and criticizes his political party

“I’m saddened to see Elon Musk completely lose his way, essentially becoming a DERAILED TRAIN over the past five weeks,” Trump wrote this Saturday afternoon.

Alluding to the time since Musk stepped down from his position at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an agency created during Trump’s administration to attract figures from the private sector.

The president noted that the idea of founding a third political party is unrealistic in the U.S. political context, where historically such efforts have failed.

“He even wants to start a third political party, despite the fact that they’ve never prospered in the United States: the system doesn’t seem designed for them,” he added.

Trump insisted that Musk’s initiative would only add “chaos and disruption” to the current political landscape, which, he said, already faces enough problems with the Democratic Party.

Tensions over the tax law and the automotive industry

The rift between the two has deepened following Musk’s opposition to the tax and budget law pushed by Trump.

The president suggested that Musk’s critical stance stems from the elimination of incentives for electric vehicles like those produced by Tesla, a change which, he claimed, the businessman knew about in advance.

Musk had promised to step away from politics after leaving his post at the White House to focus on his companies, but in recent weeks he has returned to the spotlight by announcing plans to found the America Party.

The businessman claims that his goal is to break away from what he calls the “Republican/Democrat uniparty” and offer an alternative to voters discontented with the growth of the national debt.

Musk responds with irony and promotes his proposal

On Saturday and Sunday, Musk continued defending his project on his social network X. He labeled as “false” the reports claiming that the America Party was already formally registered with the Federal Election Commission and accused Trump of acting out of “fear” of losing voters.

“The America Party is needed to combat the Republican/Democrat uniparty,” Musk wrote, sharing charts attributing the steady increase in federal debt to both parties.

The businessman asserts that his new political movement will seek more sustainable and transparent solutions for the national budget.

The public dispute between the two highlights the fracture within the conservative front, as Trump works to consolidate his base ahead of the elections and Musk attempts to position himself as the leader of a third path, despite widespread skepticism about his real chances of success.
