A shooting took place Wednesday morning at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, leaving two children dead—ages 8 and 10—and 17 people injured, including 14 minors, according to Police Chief Brian O’Hara and Mayor Jacob Frey.
Shooting During Catholic School Mass
The attack occurred around 8:30 a.m. local time, during a mass marking the start of the school year.
“Two children were murdered at the desks where they were sitting,” O’Hara said, visibly shaken.

Gunman Armed With Three Weapons
The attacker, Robin Westman, fired from outside the building through the church windows.
He was armed with a rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun, and is believed to have used all three during the assault.
Shooter Found Dead
Authorities confirmed Robin Westman took his own life in the school’s parking lot.
The case remains under investigation, but officials stated the threat has been neutralized.
Grief and Outrage
“This deliberate act of violence is a display of cruelty beyond all comprehension,” the police chief said.
The Minneapolis community is devastated as it begins a painful process of mourning and recovery after this tragic shooting.

Federal Reaction to the Minneapolis Shooting
President Donald Trump contacted Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Both shared on social media that they are monitoring the situation and offered condolences to the families of the victims.
