After fleeing in a stolen car and then stealing another in a store parking lot, Gordon went to the house in nearby Trenton, authorities said.
By mid-afternoon, officers surrounded the house in a cordoned-off block, called out to Gordon through a loudspeaker, and tried to persuade him to come out.
Schorn said police believe Gordon first broke into a house in the Levittown community in Falls Township where he killed his 52-year-old stepmother, Karen Gordon, and his 13-year-old sister, Kera Gordon.
Three other people, including a 14-year-old, hid while he searched the house for them, the district attorney said.

She said police believe the killer then drove to another house in Levittown and shot and killed 25-year-old Taylor Daniel, who was the mother of his two children.
The victim’s mother was shot with a rifle, Schorn said. Police said the she is expected to recover, according to The Associated Press.
Shaun Murphy, who lives in Levittown, said he was heading to the local St. Patrick’s Day parade when he saw the road had been blocked.
