Could it be true? The passenger who attempted to hijack a Volaris plane claims he received a «threatening message.»

In the early hours of Sunday, authorities reported that a man tried to divert a flight from El Bajío to Tijuana to the United States.

As a result, Volaris flight 3041 was redirected to Guadalajara, Jalisco.

According to a statement from the airline, Mario «N» was handed over to the appropriate Mexican authorities.

According to El Financiero, Mario «N,» the passenger who attempted to hijack the Volaris plane, claimed to have received death threats if he reached Tijuana.

Reportedly, he was informed that a relative had been kidnapped just as the aircraft was about to take off.

Mario «N» assaulted a flight attendant and tried to enter the cockpit.

His goal was to redirect the aircraft to the United States. Volaris personnel followed security protocols and restrained him.

The pilot issued a security alert and reported the incident involving the passenger.

Members of the National Guard were ready at Guadalajara International Airport.

Mario «N,» a 31-year-old Mexican national, was traveling with his wife and two young children.

No injuries were reported.

According to journalist Carlos Jiménez, the passenger who attempted the hijacking is named Mario González.

Meanwhile, the N+ portal reported, without providing further details, that he had been hospitalized.

A video circulating on social media shows another passenger restraining him.
