- Isabel Garran tried to extort her mother-in-law.
- She had accused her husband of domestic violence.
- She’s now behind bars.
Blinded by ambition, a Venezuelan woman failed to consider the consequences of her actions, seeking an easy way to get $50,000. This ultimately led to her arrest in Florida for a serious crime.
The tale of 23-year-old Isabel Garran dates back to May, when the Miami-Dade Police Department responded to her call for help.
At the time, the Venezuelan woman accused her husband, Guglielmo Antonio Marcone, of domestic violence.
However, it was only a matter of hours before the investigation took an unexpected turn, resulting in her arrest.
Isabel Garran accused her husband of abuse

«She had already filed the domestic violence report in which detectives, you know, did their job and made an arrest,» Miami police spokesperson Kiara Delva explains.
Marcone was taken into custody on three charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The following day, Isabel’s mother-in-law approached the authorities asking them to investigate her daughter-in-law.
She accused Isabel of attempting to extort $50,000 from her in exchange for dropping the charges against Marcone.
Her mother-in-law did not give in to Garran’s demands

Miami police spokesman Mike Vega informed local media that Isabel had arranged a meeting with her husband’s mother at the Islander Market Place on Brickell Key.
«When they met, she explained to the mother-in-law that there had been an argument, that her son was arrested,» Vega stated.
«And that if they didn’t give her $50,000, she would continue to pursue the domestic violence charges,» he concluded.
However, her mother-in-law didn’t give in to Garran’s demands. Instead, she reported the situation to police.
Police investigate her in Florida

After a five-month investigation, detectives finally gathered enough evidence to issue an arrest warrant against Isabel Garran on October 26.
Because of her extortion attempt, Garran went from being perceived as a victim to facing criminal charges.
The judge ordered that she be confined in the Miami-Dade County jail and set her bail at $75,000.
The legal status of Garran’s husband wasn’t revealed in court, but his legal issues remain ongoing. The only difference now is that his wife is now behind bars.
