Rosa Rivera, Pedro Pineda and Víctor Gómez are the three Hispanic victims in the Greenwood, Indiana mall shooting. The Hispanic community in Indiana has gathered in solidarity around the families of the three innocent victims of yet another massacre in United States.
Rosa Rivera, Pedro Pineda and Víctor Gómez were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now the faces of that horrible tragedy that devastated two Hispanic families are finally coming to light. They were gunned down on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at 6:00 in the afternoon, when shooter Jonathan Sapirman entered the Greenwood Park Mall food court, located at 1251 US Hwy 31 North.
Three tragic stories

Husband and wife, Pedro Rivera, 56, and Rosa Miriam Rivera de Pineda, 37, were sitting and eating at a table in the food court. They died together. 30-year-old Víctor Gómez was in another part of the mall. Suddenly Jonathan Sapirman unloaded 24 rounds into the crowd. Two more people were injured.
According to the Greenwood Police Department (GPD), before more people could be killed, an armed citizen confronted Jonathan Sapirman. The brave man shot Sapirman ten times from 30 yards and hit him eight times. Filed Under: Mall Indiana Hispanic Faces.
Two of the victims were originally from El Salvador

The Johnson County Coroner’s Office in Indiana officially identified Rosa Miriam Rivera de Pineda and Pedro Pineda as immigrants from El Salvador. They were originally from San Francisco Menéndez, Ahuachapán. Víctor Gómez also had a gun with him, but he didn’t even have a chance to draw it.
Elisjsha Dicken, 22, was the hero who shot Jonathan Sapirman, 20, before he continued his massacre at Greenwood Park Mall. The three murdered Hispanics were residents of the city of Indianapolis, Ind. Filed Under: Mall Indiana Hispanic Faces.
Community unites to help victims’ families

Stephanie Codina, a friend of the daughters of the murdered couple, started a GoFundMe campaign: Pedro Pineda and Rosa Miriam Rivera de Pineda . She’s asking for help so their family can afford to give them a proper burial.
“By this means we write to you to speak of the pain of the Pineda Rivera family asking for your solidarity. They were two of those who died in the Greenwood Mall shooting… they are going to be veiled and buried here in Indianapolis, Indiana, with the help from you,” says the plea. Mrs. Angélica Flores Boteo de Lúe announced through Facebook that, on Saturday, July 23, 2022, there will be a sale of pupusas and typical Salvadoran food, to raise funds for Rosa Miriam Rivera de Pineda and Pedro Pineda, who were killed in the massacre.
“Friends and the general public, we are inviting you to collaborate with us to raise funds for the funeral services of Pedro Pineda and Rosa de Pineda… we will have a sale of pupusas. All help is good, the family needs it now. The event will be on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 3720 W 30th Street,” the announcement reads. Filed Under: Mall Indiana Hispanic Faces.
Thousands fall victim to gun violence in the US

The deaths of Rosa Miriam Rivera de Pineda, Pedro Pineda and Víctor Gómez are three of thousands of deaths by firearms in the United States. The non-profit organization National Archive on Gun Violence reported that so far in 2022, 23,773 people have already been shot to death.
As of Friday, July 15, 2022, of those people shot to death in the United States, a total of 10,837 were killed and 12,936 committed suicide. The country suffered 339 mass shootings, in which at least four people were shot dead in the same event. Filed Under: Mall Indiana Hispanic Faces.
