Born in Buckingham, England, George Baldock had a special connection to Greece, as one of his grandparents was of Greek descent, according to Fox Sports.

Thanks to that link, Baldock chose to represent the Greek national team in international competitions, donning the colors of his adopted homeland.

With Panathinaikos, Baldock had played only four matches: three in the Greek Super League and one in the qualifying stages of the UEFA Europa League.

Despite his short time at the club, Baldock was seen as a player with a promising future in Greek football, and his transfer had raised high expectations among fans.
