In just over two minutes, Fernando del Rincón commented on video that the anti-aircraft alarms had once again sounded in Lviv, Ukraine: “It is six in the morning and this is how we are waking up. The streets are empty and, in addition to the anti-aircraft sirens, we heard the alert in the place where we are staying.”

“They tell us that there is an air raid emergency in the city. We are waiting to see if something is going to happen,” said the Mexican journalist. He also showed a little of the city: “They bombed us not far from here. What looks like clouds, they are not clouds, it is black smoke specifically from the bombs that hit.”

A few seconds later, from inside the place where he is staying with his team, Fernando del Rincón again showed the columns of smoke from the bombs that had fallen 30 minutes earlier. He also recalled that after six in the morning they heard the sound of the air raid sirens.

Just a few hours after writing this article, Fernando del Rincón uploaded a video from an old bomb shelter from World War II. No one ever imagined they would have to reopen its doors due to another war like the one that is taking place right now between Russia and Ukraine.

“We are right in the center of Lviv. Around you find what you would find anywhere: restaurants, shops… and suddenly we find this entrance that seems mysterious at first, so to speak. It is the wooden doors that lead to a basement, a place of refuge.”

After making the observation that this shelter, which was unlocked, is for anyone who needs to protect themselves from a bombardment, Fernando del Rincón went inside and commented that it is very similar to the bunkers in the Second World War: “There is no on guarding the entrance.”
