This tragic news was officially announced in a statement on Friday.
The news has shocked fans worldwide, who are mourning the loss of a creative genius.
Jackie Chan reacted to Toriyama’s passing on Weibo: «Akira Toriyama-sensei, thank you for creating so many classics, they will always be with the world, goodbye.»
Fans mourn a visionary

«Mangaka Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1, 2024, due to an acute subdural hematoma,» reads a statement posted by Bird Studio and Capsule Collection Tokyo.
«He was 68 years old. It’s a pity because he had a lot of work to do and there were still things he wanted to achieve,» they wrote.
«However, he has left many manga titles and works of art to this world,» they wrote in their farewell post.
The funeral has already been held, prior to the announcement of his death, and it was attended «only by close family members.»
