Derek Medina, dubbed the ‘Facebook Killer,’ gained infamy for a horrific crime committed in August 2013.

Medina was charged with murdering his 27-year-old wife, Jennifer Alfonso, in their South Miami home.

What further shocked the public was his posting of a photo of his wife’s body and a confession on Facebook before surrendering to authorities.

The Hispanic man turned himself in after the fatal act, claiming he acted in self-defense due to enduring significant physical violence.

Derek Medina found guilty

A recording has been shared on social networks capturing the exact moment when Derek kills his wife Jennifer, following a domestic argument.

Surveillance camera footage from inside the couple’s apartment shows the precise moment he shoots her.

According to testimony during the trial, Medina claimed he shot his wife during an altercation in which she threatened him with a knife.

However, jurors did not accept his claim of self-defense, and he was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of the crime.

«In the recording, the victim can be seen in her apartment’s kitchen when suddenly her husband enters, and a struggle between the two ensues.

After the argument, several gunshots are heard, and finally, Derek is seen leaving the apartment before the police arrive at the crime scene.

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Yvonne Colodny imposed the maximum possible sentence on Derek Medina, who was 33 years old at the time, for this brutal crime.

This case highlights the shocking and disturbing use of social media to document and confess such a grave act, according to CBS News.

The ‘Facebook Killer’

Some internet users have reacted to the video shared on YouTube, disputing Derek Medina’s claim that it was self-defense.
