David Perrine sentenced in Ohio

In a case that has shaken the community of Licking County, David Perrine, 41, has been sentenced to life in prison.

It was confirmed that he will not be eligible for parole after being found guilty of murdering his mother, Debra Perrine, aged 67.

He was found guilty last week after a lengthy trial in which Perrine faced several serious charges.

These included aggravated murder, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse and two counts of theft, according to NBC4.

How did the murder take place?

Police became aware of David Perrine on December 23, 2022, when Licking County sheriff’s deputies conducted a welfare check.

Concerned about Debra Perrine’s wellbeing after they hadn’t heard from her for a week, family members called police.

They responded to the residence on Darlene Drive in Newark, Ohio.

What they found inside the house was heartbreaking. Debra’s son David Perrine was there with another man and there were signs of foul play.

Police also saw that there appeared to be an attempt to cover up a crime, according to WBNS.

Less than a week later, on December 29, sheriff’s detectives and investigators from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation returned to the home.

Authorities made a gruesome discovery in the backyard of the residence — Debra Perrine was buried there.

According to the statement issued by the sheriff’s office, the body showed «obvious signs of trauma,» thus confirming the family’s worst fears.

What happened next?

The road to justice was arduous and full of legal challenges. Perrine was initially arrested for violating pre-trial bail.

He faced charges related to grand theft of a vehicle, robbery and felony theft.

However, further investigation revealed sufficient evidence to formally charge him in the death of his mother.

A grand jury indicted him on May 2023, according to NBC 4.
