The U.S. State Department announced that it will revoke visas of foreign nationals who express support for, justify, or minimize the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
The warning was issued Thursday by Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau following the attack in Utah.
“In light of yesterday’s horrific assassination of a leading political figure, I want to underscore that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome in our country,” Landau wrote on his X account.

Outrage on Social Media
Landau, who calls himself “the visa-canceler,” reacted strongly to messages detected on social media where some users allegedly praised or downplayed the assassination.
According to the official, “some praising, justifying, or minimizing the event” prompted instructions to consular officials to “take appropriate measures.”
In addition, the deputy secretary asked his followers on X to report such comments to him so the State Department could act.
In his words, the goal is “to protect the American people” from expressions that, in his view, promote hatred and violence.
Charlie Kirk’s Assassination in Utah
Charlie Kirk, 31, was assassinated Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University.
The attack occurred when an unidentified individual fired from the roof of a building, striking Kirk in the neck.
After the shots, the suspect fled the scene, leaving authorities conducting a manhunt.
The conservative commentator, father of two, was known for founding the youth organization Turning Point and for his close relationship with President Donald Trump.
Reaction From the White House

The White House responded quickly. Trump confirmed that he will posthumously award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Kirk, in recognition of his political work and support for the conservative movement.
The president emphasized the personal and political closeness he had with Kirk, reinforcing the symbolic nature of the award.
Charlie Kirk’s assassination has triggered an immediate response from the Trump administration, both in political terms and in immigration-control measures.
