The passage of Tropical Storm Beryl through Texas left at least 4 dead and caused a massive blackout, affecting more than 2 million people, according to various authorities on Monday.
Beryl was downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm early Monday morning, after landing in the southeast of the state on Sunday.
As a tropical storm, it will continue to move towards the center of the country and the Great Lakes area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The storm is expected to continue weakening, but the NWS still warned that there is a possibility of flooding throughout the state and along the coasts.
BERYL LEAVES A DEATH TOLL AND BLACKOUTS

In turn, the NWS issued tornado warnings in eastern Texas and western Louisiana.
In the Houston area, the most populated city in the state and one of the most affected by the storm, authorities reported a total of four deaths this afternoon.
The state’s lieutenant governor, Dan Patrick, said more than 2.7 million people are without electricity and indicated that it will take «several days» to restore service.
The electric company CenterPoint Energy, which provides services to the city, indicated that Beryl affected its customers “more than expected.”

Constable County Officer Mark Herman reported hundreds of trees down, causing damage to vehicles and homes.
Police in the suburb of Rosenberg urged residents to avoid going out onto the streets due to the dangers of water and fallen trees.
One of the suburb’s rescue vehicles was hit by a tree during a rescue operation, the agency reported.In Galveston, video footage showed significant street flooding, and a flash flood warning remained in effect in Houston for most of the morning.
The city of Houston, the fourth largest in the United States, was particularly affected by flooding.
After suffering intense storms in recent months, the city once again faced flood warnings.
Streets began to quickly flood, and residents once again found themselves battling rising water.

CenterPoint Energy, Houston’s energy provider, reported that two million homes and businesses were without power shortly after the storm made landfall.
