Saba Lobjanidze scored the decisive penalty to give Atlanta United a 5-4 win over Montreal in a penalty shootout.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw in regular time, with goals from Brooks Lennon and Stian Gregersen for Atlanta, and two from Josef Martinez for Montreal.
With this victory, Atlanta United secured their third consecutive win, earning a spot in the playoffs.
Their next challenge will be a three-game series against Inter Miami, starting Friday in Fort Lauderdale.
Atlanta United Breaks Their Streak and Advances in the Playoffs

Tuesday’s win marked the first time Atlanta advanced in the playoffs since 2019.
Under interim coach Rob Valentino, Atlanta has improved its postseason performance, with a record of 8-5-1.
In the match, Montreal dominated the first 20 minutes, testing goalkeeper Brad Guzan with several long-range shots.
Atlanta United took the lead in the 29th minute with a header from Lennon after a cross from Pedro Amador.
Gregersen extended the lead in the 44th minute with a header from a set-piece play.
Montreal closed the gap with a goal from Martínez in the 63rd minute, capitalizing on a mistake by Guzan.

In the penalty shootout, Guzan stood out by saving Montreal’s second attempt, securing the victory.
Atlanta United will look to continue their winning streak in their next matchup against Miami.
