- Criticism for lack of sensitivity
Actress and radio host Angélica Vale found herself at the center of controversy after making a comment during her live show on Cali 93.9 FM in Los Angeles.
The incident occurred following the announcement that Bad Bunny will headline the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show, scheduled for February 8.
Soon after, rumors began circulating about a possible presence of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agents at the event, causing concern among Latino listeners.
While trying to reassure her audience, Angélica Vale made a remark that many considered inappropriate.
“No Latino Can Afford That”

“There are a lot of people worried, telling me, ‘Hey, ICE is going to show up at the Super Bowl.’ But I tell them: don’t worry, tickets start at five thousand dollars. No Latino can afford that, so we’ll just enjoy it from home,” she said on air.
The clip was shared by influencer Jacqueline Martínez, known online as Chamonic, who posted it to her Instagram account. Comments were disabled to avoid heated debates or online attacks.

However, the video quickly went viral across other platforms, where users called the statement “classist” and “out of touch.”
Others noted that while Angélica Vale likely intended to be humorous, her words reflect ongoing economic stereotypes that affect the Latino community in the United States.
Public Response to Angélica Vale’s Comment and Debate
Known for her humor and spontaneity, Angélica Vale often tackles social issues in a lighthearted tone. This time, however, her comment drew more criticism than laughter.
Some fans defended her, arguing that her words were taken out of context and that her intention was to downplay the fear surrounding ICE rumors.
Still, many critics on social media emphasized that public figures with large audiences must be more careful with their words, especially when addressing sensitive issues like immigration and class.
So far, Angélica Vale has not issued an official statement clarifying her remarks or responding to the backlash.
Between Humor and Social Awareness
The incident has reignited the debate over how Latino entertainers handle topics of immigration and representation in U.S. media.
While Angélica Vale may not have meant to spark a controversy with her Super Bowl comment, her statement highlights the delicate balance between humor and social sensitivity within the Latino community.
The Super Bowl 2026 is still months away, but discussions about inclusion, representation, and Latino purchasing power have already begun—fueled by a comment that many will not soon forget.
